If you met in the cyber space, there is really only one
definite advice we can give for a first date: meet in a public
place and make sure that someone knows about your date.
For a first date, go somewhere where you can talk and get
to know each other. Go somewhere where you can feel
comfortable but where there is a little chance of running into
someone you know.
For a first date, go somewhere where you can observe your
date and check their habits and tastes. Go some place which
you can leave at any time, if need be.
The first date places include: coffee shops, cafes,
casual restaurants, and martini bars. Going to movies,
expensive restaurants (too slow!), live theatres or dinner
theatres won't give you as much flexibility and ease as you
need on a first date. You can go to these places on a second
date, if you wish.
Your focus on a first date should be communication and
getting to know each other, entertainment will come later,
perhaps, on a second date :)
