  • First date tips
A quick list of first date dos and don'ts for men and women. You don't have to follow them all, of course. For example, men ending the first date...? Nah.

If it's a date with someone you met online and you are meeting for the first time, you have most likely exchanged a few messages and even talked on the phone a couple of times (women! do not give away your phone number, call yourself and enable a 'blocked call' feature beforehand) prior to meeting in person. Use this communication to decide how to start your first date.

You can smile and bring up or joke about one of the topics the two of you discussed previously (make sure you discuss something!). For example, a woman can say something like this: "Gee, you mentioned you were athletic and well-built, but I couldn't imagine I am going on a date with a superman". Your date will be flattered, and will probably want to say something nice to you in return, so the two of you will start your first date on a cheerful note. A man can say something like this: "You said you were attractive, but I didn't know am I going on a date with a knock out. Would you like go sit down somewhere for a drink so that we can talk".

If your date's looks don't particularly appeal to you, still say something positive, for example: "I am glad you are on time, I am so thirsty, let's go and have something to drink right away, we'll be able to talk there as well".

Below are a few phrases you can use right after you've exchanged "hello, nice to meet you"s to start a conversation. Feel free to modify them slightly to suit your particular circumstances:

  1. ...I am glad you chose to meet at this place, it's right next to one of the coffee shops I really like
  2. ...I am glad you are on time, I am so hungry, let's go and have something refreshing right away, we can talk there as well.
  3. ...You look exactly the way you described to me: slender/athletic/well-built/muscular and sexy/attarctive/pretty/beautiful/handsome.

And the most important thing - smile and don't be afraid to laugh! Everyone likes to be around someone joyful and cheerful.
